MIRVILLE CASTLE
Belonging to the same family since 1669, the Château de Mirville is the historical heart of the Coubertin lineage.
The great-granddaughter of the Marquis de Mirville married Charles de Coubertin there, and from their union four children were born, including Pierre de Coubertin, the future creator of the modern Olympic Games.
It was in this peaceful area of Normandy that Pierre spent a large part of his childhood.
Between park, river and sporting activities — tennis, swimming, rowing — he developed very early on the passion and values that would give birth to the Olympic ideal.
