COUBERTIN CASTLE
The Château de Coubertin owes its vitality to a meeting in 1949 between Yvonne de Coubertin, heiress of the family estate, and Jean Bernard, artist, stonemason and renovator of the French guild system. From their collaboration will be born a unique human and artistic adventure, where tradition, know-how and humanist spirit come together.
Yvonne de Coubertin (1893–1974) was the daughter of Baron Paul de Coubertin and therefore the niece of Pierre de Coubertin, founder of the modern Olympic Games.

Creation of the Coubertin Foundation, dedicated to the transmission of artistic crafts and training
1973
The Foundation is recognized as a public utility, confirming its major role in promoting French know-how.
1974
Upon Yvonne de Coubertin's death, the Foundation inherited the estate, thus perpetuating its commitment to culture and excellence in craftsmanship.
The Foundation
Today, the Foundation welcomes young workers, metalworkers, carpenters, plasterers and boilermakers. They work in the Foundation's master workshops – the Saint-Jacques Workshops and the Coubertin Foundry – supervised by the Compagnons du Devoir du Tour de France.
They practice the ancient and still relevant technique of lost-wax casting.
The Estate
The Château de Coubertin estate covers 30 hectares, blending heritage, art, and craftsmanship. The classically designed château houses the family collections, while the hamlet offers accommodation and cultural education.
In the heart of the park, the Saint-Jacques Workshops and the Coubertin Foundry perpetuate the crafts, extended by the Garden of Bronzes, a veritable open-air museum.

The Museum
The Coubertin Foundation Museum preserves and showcases a rich collection of sculptures and drawings dating from the late 19th century to the present day, centered around the work of Joseph Bernard (1866-1931). Presented in several spaces around the château, the museum is responsible for the conservation, restoration, and expansion of its collections. Throughout the year, it offers temporary exhibitions, tours, and cultural events open to all.
