Meudon Forest

In 1918, two associations, Fémina Sport and Académia, joined forces under the leadership of Alice Milliat to create the Federation of Women's Sports Societies of France (FSFSP), which would become the International Women's Sports Federation (FSFI) in 1921.

Alice Milliat joined the FSFSF as its first treasurer, then became general secretary and took over as president in March 1919 until 1935.

The Federation of Women's Sports Societies of France (FSFSF) is developing little-known sports throughout France, such as athletics, basketball, football, rugby, hockey and volleyball.

On Sunday, April 28, 1918, Alice Milliat decided to organize the first official women's cross-country event in the Meudon forest. Supported by the leading sports newspapers of the time, L'Écho des Sports and L'Auto, this competition attracted 42 participants, whose attire—shorts and jerseys—was considered indecent by some. Anne de Tinguy (Académia) won the 2,400m race in 9:58, followed by Lucienne Laudré (Académia), aged 11 and a half, and Lucie Cadies (Fémina Sports), who finished third. This event marked the beginning of a great adventure for women's sport in France.
